Introducing the CGX Quick-32r

The CGX Quick-32r EEG headset design is the result of a rewarding yearlong collaboration between Catalano Design (industrial design), Kelly Design and Development (mechanical engineering), and CGX.

We took CGX’s existing platform and rebuilt it from the ground up. By optimizing the sensor pod design to be smaller, lighter, and more robust, we were able to increase to 32 channels from the prior 20 channel headset. This provides the highest level brain-reading resolution of any dry EEG system there is.

Adding the extra channels cascades into plenty of other challenges—there are more sensors, more legs, and more electronics components. We took full advantage of HP MJF additive manufacturing to reduce the number of parts and assembly steps. We kept the weight down to improve comfort and streamlined the aesthetics and construction.

The final product is a best-in-class, comfortable, fast, and accurate dry EEG system. It is in production now, using HP MJF as the final manufacturing process for nearly all the mechanical and external parts. We will be posting more about how additive manufacturing was crucial to the design of this product, so check back soon!
